    Jun 16, 2023

We are hard at work in the lab this week!

  2. Dr. Puskas Wins Oscar of Engineering!

    Jun 12, 2023

Dr. Puskas has been elected to the National Academy of Engineering (NAE) Class of 2023 in recognition of sustained excellence in innovation and education!

    Oscar of Engineering!

  3. Welcome Joanna!

    Jun 9, 2023

My research interest is focused on biodegradable polymers with the possible application in agriculture, medicine and particularly in the packaging technologies as well as degradation study of polyesters in different environments: (i) abiotic hydrolytic degradation in the laboratory conditions, (ii) degradation process in cosmetic simulants, (iii) degradation under industrial composting conditions in container system and industrial composting pile.

  4. Meet Nina Kantor-Malujdy!

    May 10, 2023

Nina Kantor-Malujdy, a PhD student studying materials engineering at the West Pomeranian University of Technology in Szczecin, is part of the innovative and exciting GREEN-MAP project.

  5. Meet Tomasz Konieczny!

    Apr 26, 2023

Meet Tomasz Konieczny, a highly skilled and motivated doctoral candidate in materials engineering. He works at the Polish Academy of Sciences in Zabrze, Poland.

  6. PAPER Synthesis and characterization of Four-functional fluorescein

    Apr 21, 2023

The synthesis of fluorescein-diacrylate (FL-DA) and four-functional fluoresceins (FL) by Michael addition of secondary amines to FL-DA was investigated. FL-DA was successfully synthesized at the ∼ 100 g level. Diallyl amine (DAA) reacted with FL-DA instantaneously. Diethanolamine (DEA) also reacted within 5 min but was unstable and hydrolyzed back to FL. Michael addition of aminodiols with longer carbon chains and diethyl-amino-diacetate (DIDA) was slower but could be accelerated using Candida antarctica lipase B (CALB) as a biocatalyst.

  7. Lab Group Working Hard

    Apr 19, 2023

Hello everyone! You can see on the photo group of pHd students and workers who are passionate about polymers. If you want to learn more about how these chemical compounds impact our daily lives, be sure to follow their progress and stay up-to-date with their research!

  8. Investigation of the Structure, Filler Interaction and Degradation of Disulfide Elastomers made by Reversible Radical Recombination Polymerization (R3P)

    Mar 31, 2023

In this paper we report the synthesis and analysis of cyclic polydisulfides, their redox depolymerization as well as their interaction with carbon black. Cyclic p(3,6-dioxa-1,8-octanedithiol)s (pDODT) were synthesized by Reversible Radical Recombination Polymerization (R3P).

  9. PENRA Award Winner!

    Mar 25, 2023

Congratulations to Dr. Puskas on winning the Program of Excellence in Natural Rubber Alternatives (PENRA) award this year! PENRA was created to accelerate the incubation, demonstration, market entry, and growth of domestic natural rubber. PENRA has 5 main research target areas!
