  2. Poland and Polish Culture Presentation

    Feb 17, 2023

What a treat! Nina, Martyna and Tomasz gave an awesome presentation about Poland and Polish culture at the Cultural Connections series organized by Jason Owens at the Wooster Campus. We were very happy to learn a bit of history, try out some tongue twisters and even some homemade Polish food! They prepared Leczo, Bigos and a brilliant cake for the 60 person who registered to the event.

  3. Green-Map A In Lab Action

    Feb 17, 2023

Green-Map A little action in the lab. Laszlo and Roland are preparing their samples for Size Exclusion Chromatography (SEC) supervised by Kristof. Our group’s goal is to teach every visitor the use and theoretical background of our high-end SEC system. This is an invaluable knowledge for every polymer scientist.

  4. Welcome Martyna and Nina

    Feb 17, 2023

Welcome back Martyna Sokolowska and welcome Nina Kantor-Malujdy to our group. Martyna will spend one month and Nina will spend 3 in our group working in our Green-map project funded by the European Union.

  5. Newest NAE Member

    Feb 10, 2023

Congratulations Dr. Puskas on being elected to the National Academy of Engineering (NAE)! NAE members volunteer their time to help guide the development and regulation of federal laws, improve effectiveness of government programs, shape the direction of research, and communicate with the public regarding critical issues. Dr. Puskas was selected due to her work in coinventing an FDA approved, life saving coronary stent coating along with her research of the polymerization process.

  6. Welcome

    Feb 10, 2023

Laszlo Meszaros and Roland Petreny  from the Budapest University of Technology and Economics have arrived for their secondment in our group! They are aiding in the Green Map Project

  8. IR Spectrophotometer as a Detector of Liquid Chromatographs

    Dec 2, 2022

As a part of our effort to synthesize biopolymers from a completely renewable material source (di-linoleic diol), novel techniques of polymerization are used, e.g., Reversible Radical Recombination Polymerization (R3P). Besides methods of polymerization, analytical techniques are also being constantly developed. Recently, IR spectroscopy was successfully used to continuously monitor the process of chromatographic monomer purification. The resulting chromatogram simultaneously shows the time dependence and the wavenumber dependence of IR absorbances.

  9. Porous SIBS Membranes

    Dec 2, 2022

Poly(styrene-isobutylene-styrene) block copolymer (SIBS) is a very versatile material. Due to its excellent biocompatibility, it can be applied safely even in the human body. Now the areas of biomedical applications were extended even further: it can also be used for filtering purposes, e.g., as a porous membrane acting as an active layer of a COVID mask.

  10. Welcome Martyna Sokolowska!

    Sep 8, 2022

Puskas Lab is excited to welcome visiting scholar Martyna Sokolowska! She is a Ph.D. student at the Department of Polymer and Biomaterial Engineering at the West Pomeranian University of Technology in Szczecin, located in Poland. Her research interest is focused on sustainable development, production and modification of biopolymers, enzymatic synthesis, polymer characterization methods, and medical engineering.
