    Laszlo Varga is seconded to the Ohio State University in the framework of the Green-Map Project (Novel Green Polymeric Materials for Medical Packaging and Disposables to Improve Hospital Sustainability). His sending institute is the Department of Polymer Engineering at the Budapest University of Technology and Economics, where he is currently working on his Ph.D. thesis. Here at the Ohio State University, Laszlo will participate in activities related to the degradation of biopolymers.

    This week in lab, Khadar worked on fixing the Pyrolysis Gas Chromatography/Mass Spectrometry (Pyro-GC-MS) machine with the new Pyrolysis part! This machine is used for polymer identification, additive identification, and qualitative and quantitative analysis of components.

  4. Welcome Khadar Duale!

    We would like to welcome our visiting scholar Khadar Duale! Duale is currently working at the Centre for Polymer and Carbon Materials of the Polish Academy of Sciences (CMPW PAN) and specializes in the synthesis, processing, and characterization of biodegradable polymer, with extensive experience in mass spectrometric techniques. During his time in our group, he will study the degradation of specifically labelled PBAT/PLA 3D printed samples as part of the Green Map project.

  6. Preparation of Surgical Meshes from SIBS using Self-Regulating Technology

    We have successfully developed a self-regulating manufacturing method that could be used to produce surgical meshes from SIBS. Our concept is based on parallel reaction and diffusion, demonstrated by the first video linked below. Even if the initial conditions are irregular, self-assembly leads to regular patterns, as shown in the second video linked below.

    Puskas Lab is excited to welcome back Thomasz Konieczny and Peter Polyak! Tomasz Konieczny,  is a doctoral candidate in materials engineering. He works at the Polish Academy of Sciences in Zabrze, Poland. Tomasz has extensive technical knowledge and experience in the field of materials science and engineering, and he is deeply committed to sustainability and eco-friendly practices as the part of GREEN-MAP project.
