The TARDISS ERC has been awarded $26 million in federal funding to start natural rubber production in the United States and enhance workforce development to fuel the new domestic industry. TARDISS, composed of academic partners and supported by industry stakeholders, will lead fundamental research supporting the creation of a “Silicon Valley of Domestic Natural Rubber Production”.

This summer, Professor Miroslawa El Fray is visiting the Puskas Group. Professor El Fray is a long-time collaborator of Professor Puskas and a decorated researcher at the West Pomeranian University of Technology in Szczecin (ZUT). She is also Director of the Nanotechnology Centre for Education and Research, and Head of the Department of Polymer and Biomaterials Science. She was a post-doc at the Technical University Hamburg-Harburg, and scientific researcher at the University Bayreuth, Germany.

In the framework of the Green-Map project, two researchers from Europe are visiting the Puskas Group during the summer months of 2024. Magdalena Zdanowicz is seconded to the OSU from the West Pomeranian University of Technology in Szczecin (ZUT), whereas Luca Ciacci is representing the Alma Mater Studiorum Università di Bologna (UNIBO). We are delighted to welcome them.

The third Summer School of the Green-Map project has taken place in Bologna between the 26th and 28th of June 2024 and was hosted by the University of Bologna (UNIBO). The Ohio State University and the Puskas group was represented by Peter Polyak, who gave a lecture on the synthesis of polydisulfide polymers from plant oils.

Artificial Neural Network (ANN)-based mathematical models are highly versatile and are capable of describing literally any kind of correlation. Our research team has constructed an Artificial Neural Network that can learn the characteristics of chromatographic peaks and perfectly describe the chromatogram. We are not talking about a mere approximation here: ANN-based mathematical models can learn to describe any kind of chromatogram or spectrum perfectly. The former is demonstrated by the video linked below.
