Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering student from Professor Judit Puskas’ lab accepted into ACS Summer School on Green Chemistry & Sustainable Energy

April 11, 2017

Gayatri Shrikhande, a third year Ph.D. student from the Puskas group has been accepted into the American Chemical Society (ACS) Summer School on Green Chemistry & Sustainable Energy. She is the fifth student from the Puskas lab accepted into the program which will be held this year June 20-27, 2017 at the Colorado School of Mines in Golden, Colorado.

The program is fully funded and participants from the United States, Canada, and Latin America will learn about green chemistry and sustainable energy through lectures by experts, laboratories, collaborative projects, poster sessions, case studies and discussions.

The Puskas lab is focusing to make polymer chemistry greener by developing environmentally friendly synthesis and functionalization methods. The ACS summer  school experience will be helpful for Gayatri’s  Ph.D. research and  her career. She is working on enzyme-catalyzed functionalization of polymers for targeted breast cancer diagnosis, in collaboration with the Cleveland Clinic.

Congratulations, Gayatri!
